Solemn Cornerstone Ceremony

On 12 July 2021, the cornerstone ceremony for the new buildings, which will host the Centre for Energy and Environmental Chemistry (CEEC Jena II) and the Application Centre (AWZ CEEC Jena), took place at the Chemistry Campus of Friedrich Schiller University Jena.

The new buildings are a cross-faculty centre of FSU, in which the chemical-geoscientific and the physical-astronomical faculties will cooperate closely. Research of new energy storage systems and future battery development is to commence from 2023/24.

The total cost of the construction project amounts to about 51 million euros. Around 13 million euros thereof will be co-financed by the European Union within the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) frame.
