The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN Disability Rights Convention) is an international treaty. It adapts existing human rights to the specific circumstances of persons with disabilities, including the right to life, the right to work, and the right to participate in political and public life.
To strengthen the rights of people with disabilities, new regulations, such as those concerning accessibility and personal mobility, were included. The aim of the Convention is to promote equal opportunities for people with disabilities and to prevent discrimination against them. At the end of February 2010, the Thüringen State Parliament resolved to implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities effectively and promptly in Thüringen.
Current information and publications on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities can be accessed via the independent Monitoring Body or the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The requirements of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities are taken into account throughout the entire planning and implementation process of the ERDF program 2021-2027 in Thuringia. The essential principles are ensured through the mandatory and consistent consideration of the principle of non-discrimination.
