To ensure the efficient and proper implementation of the programmes, a joint monitoring committee was established for the ERDF programme and the ESF programme. The tasks of the monitoring committee are laid down in Article 40(1) of Regulation (EU) 2021/1060 of 24 June 2021. These include, inter alia, examining progress in programme implementation and in achieving milestones and targets; any aspects affecting programme performance and any remedial measures taken in this regard; the programme's contribution to addressing the challenges identified in the relevant country-specific recommendations related to programme implementation; the ex-ante evaluation elements listed in Article 58(3) and the strategy document pursuant to Article 59(1); progress in conducting evaluations, summaries of evaluations and any follow-up actions taken as a result of the findings; the implementation of communication and visibility activities; and progress in the implementation of projects of strategic importance.
