For ERDF-cofinanced infrastructure projects with an expected lifespan of at least 5 years, it must be ensured, in accordance with Article 73(2)(j) of Regulation (EU) 2021/1060, that these projects are climate-compatible.
The climate compatibility of infrastructure projects is assessed according to Article 2 No. 42 of Regulation (EU) 2021/1060 based on the following criteria: “Energy efficiency first”, “Climate neutrality” and “Climate resilience”. Guidance on carrying out these assessments is provided by the Technical Guidelines for Ensuring the Climate Compatibility of Infrastructure for the Period 2021-2027 (Commission Notice 2021/C 373/01).
