On August 25, 2023, Minister of Economic Affairs Wolfgang Tiefensee visited ERDF-funded projects at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences and at GFE – Gesellschaft für Fertigungstechnik und Entwicklung Schmalkalden e.V. (Society for Manufacturing Technology and Development Schmalkalden).
After joint discussions with the president of Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Baier, and the heads of the research group for "Applied Plastics Technology," Prof. Seul and Prof. Roth, Tiefensee visited the laboratory for applied plastics technology. The visit to Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences also included a demonstration of a computer tomography system for structural analysis of plastic components using examples from applied research. At GFE, Minister Tiefensee gained insights into business-oriented research in toolmaking from managing directors Jens Neumann and Dr. Florian Welzel.
