Topping-out ceremony for new battery research buildings at the University of Jena

On 27.06.2022, the topping-out ceremony for two extensions of the Center for Energy and Environmental Chemistry (CEEC Jena II) was celebrated at the Chemistry Campus of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. The total costs of the construction project amount to a good 54 million euros, which will be borne by the federal government, the state and funds from the Ernst Abbe and Carl Zeiss Foundations. Around 13 million euros are co-financed by the European Union as part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The new buildings of the CEEC Jena II and the associated Application Center (EEZ CEEC Jena) form a cross-faculty center in which the Faculties of Chemistry and Geosciences and the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy will cooperate closely. Against the background that the energy supply of the future still has a storage problem, additional rooms will be available from 2023/24 to research new energy storage systems and develop the battery of the future.
