The joint project MyBioMask sets new standards in infection protection with sustainable, future-ready technology: Thuringian partners from research and industry—including INNOVENT e.V., the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Jena University Hospital, Thorey Gera Textilveredelung GmbH, and Heyfair GmbH—have developed an innovative FFP2 mask that is not only individually customizable, but also visually indicates its remaining service life. Custom-fit mask bodies based on facial scans maximize wearing comfort, ensure better compliance, and boost acceptance in both everyday and professional settings.
From laboratory material development to automated manufacturing on modern production lines, the project impressively demonstrates how regional value creation and sustainable materials research work hand in hand—yet another example of how EU funding drives pioneering innovations in Thuringia.
