Forward-looking mobility: Weimar's new hydrogen buses

With ERDF funding, Weimar is putting hydrogen buses on the road that can effortlessly handle even steep inclines. The new fleet combines environmental protection with high performance: the buses emit only water vapor, thus setting standards for sustainable mobility.

Hydrogen buses are proving their worth in everyday use: fast refueling, high driving comfort, and easy maintenance make them the ideal addition to urban transport. Compared to electric buses, hydrogen vehicles particularly stand out due to their short refueling times and long range – ideal for demanding urban traffic with its inclines and long distances.

The ERDF-funded project demonstrates that Thuringia is actively shaping the mobility transition. Weimar is developing into a role model for other cities – with a technology that is already making the public transport of the future a reality today.
