Species conservation in Thüringen: Rescue for endangered butterfly

The Natura 2000 station "Obere Saale" is committed to the conservation of the endangered Large Blue butterfly. With ERDF funding, it works closely with farmers and landowners to preserve and specifically adapt habitats so that this rare butterfly can survive.

The project goes beyond the protection of a single species: the measures promote overall biodiversity in the region and make an important contribution to the European Natura 2000 nature conservation network. Thanks to ERDF support, Thuringia can secure its natural habitats in the long term and actively contribute to biodiversity in Europe.
