On February 5, 2024, the Friedenstein Foundation Gotha held its 2024 annual press conference.
Foundation director Dr. Tobias Pfeifer-Helke presents the "new Friedenstein." The amendment to the statutes and the renaming—from Stiftung Schloss Friedenstein Gotha to Friedenstein Stiftung Gotha—are accompanied by a reorientation in terms of content: from a castle museum to a universal museum. The future themes will be "model character," "place of science," and "crossing borders."
The two major third-party funded projects Gotha transdigital and Open Friedenstein! are contributing significantly to the progress being made at Friedenstein. The foundation not only provides information about innovative communication formats, but can also report on progress in the area of digitization. In this context, it announced the approval of the second phase of the project "Further Development of the Baroque Universe – Gotha transdigital" (Gotha transdigital). The Friedenstein Foundation Gotha has €20,338,766 in funding available for the years 2024 to 2027. Gotha transdigital is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM).
